WHAT

Beta Theta Pi is raising money for Fred Hutch Cancer Center, here in Seattle. Our goal is $25k because once we hit that benchmark we have an anonymous matching donor to bring us to $50k!

The money raised will go directly to funding Project Stella, a unique initiative at Fred Hutch Cancer Center focused on developing targeted treatments for an aggressive form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia called AML-RAM/CBF-GLIS.

WHY

Cancer is a disease that has affected many of our lives whether it is a spouse, family member, or friend that has had go through the grueling battle of chemotherapy or other toxic treatments. The treatments available today are extremely toxic and leave long lasting physical and mental affects on the patients.

Beta cares because we have witnessed one of our own brothers, Sam Taylor, go through the battle and have seen a glimpse of the amount of pain and suffering he endured through it all.

"Cancer research has always been something that has been close to my heart. Not for the hope that one day it will cure my cancer but for the hope that one day no parent or child will ever have to be told "there is no more options". I see children who are suffering the effects of the toxic treatments used to stop the spread of cancer every week at the hospital and I strive to help raise money for research for more targeted and less harmful treatments. Fortunately, unlike most of the other children going through chemotherapy, I am one of the lucky ones, I never needed a feeding tube, I never lost my hair, and my cancer is not fast growing and after just finishing another year of chemotherapy I am feeling great and on my way trying to have a normal life again. Your donations make an enormous difference in funding hope for the 400,000 children that will be diagnosed with cancer next year, giving them the opportunity for less toxic and more targeted treatments. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for supporting this cause."

-Sam Taylor
