Honoring the Legacy of Bette Hall

In honor of the life and legacy of Bette Hall, we invite you to support the Bette Hall Patient Support Fund at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Any gift amount will make a difference in the lives of those facing financial barriers to accessing world-class treatment at the Alvord Brain Tumor Center.

Bette Hall, a wonderful mother, wife, and friend, passed away of glioblastoma on November 10, 2021. She passed peacefully and was surrounded by family.

Not one to let life’s curveballs – including a terminal diagnosis – discourage her, Bette was determined to continue living a full, rich, and joyful life with cancer. Throughout her 14 months living with glioblastoma, she spent as much time as she could visiting with family and friends, practicing her long-time favorite songs on the piano, tending to her beautiful garden, rooting for her Seattle sports teams, and lounging on her air mattress at her home in California. She even crossed off her lifelong bucket list item of visiting Mount Rushmore.

Bette felt confident living life to the fullest in part because she knew her cancer care was in the best possible hands at the Alvord Brain Tumor Center. Following her diagnosis in September 2020, not a day passed that she did not express gratitude and appreciation for the Center’s leading-edge, compassionate care. Bette always lived from a generous heart, and one of her final wishes was to support other swith brain cancer struggling to afford components of their care and expenses related to receiving treatment.

"Bette was the model for thriving with brain cancer. No matter what twist or turns came her way, she managed to make everyone in the hospital smile with her. The Alvord Brain Tumor Center will miss her and her updates on all of her adventures." Tresa McGranahan, MD, PhD. Thoughtful, funny, and tenacious beyond words, Bette is deeply missed. It is our hope that her spirit lives on in the people and places she touched with her kindness and love of life.
