Concert for Cancer Research

Hi,

My name is Allison Lin. I'm a rising 8th grader at Seattle Country Day School. If you're reading this, you probably know who I am. And hopefully you came to my concert.

I shared a first name with Allison Freel. She was the operations manager at my school. In November of 2021, Allison was diagnosed with a tumor on her pituitary gland. She scheduled for surgery and got it removed the next day. However, on December 10th, the day before her birthday, her pathology report returned, indicating that her tumor was a very rare and malignant type of tumor known as atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (ATRT). This tumor is most commonly found in infants and toddlers. She was pretty much the 18th adult in medical history to be diagnosed with ATRT.

Allison passed away on May 25th, 2022. She was kind, competent, dependable, and amazingly organized. A cat lady and superhero to many, she will be remembered for her kindness and compassion.

In memory of Allison, please consider contributing a gift to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, a unified adult cancer care and research center, that brings together Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance into a single, independent, nonprofit organization that is also a clinically integrated part of UW Medicine and UW Medicine’s cancer program. Your gift today will go towards making advancements in cancer research and discovering cures for patients and families who need them. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
