Koh Memorial Fund for Breast Cancer Research

Judy Koh, our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, lives on in our memories and in all the lives she touched. Judy passed away after a courageous 14-year battle with breast cancer, surrounded by family and friends. Even when ill, she never let it decrease her zest for life and her ability to share love and joy with all.

Judy was born on April21, 1954 in Seattle, WA to Pete Iwao and Miyuki Hanada. She spent many happy years of childhood growing up on the family farm and helping her parents at the Pike Place Market. She attended Foster High School and graduated with a Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Washington in 1976. Judy worked at the University of Washington Medical Center, eventually becoming Head Nurse of the inpatient oncology unit. She subsequently returned to clinical nursing at the Fred Hutch and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. She retired after marrying Wui-Jin, and became a full-time mother to Allyson and Alex.

Judy enjoyed cooking, traveling, photography, attending school/sports functions for her kids, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and organizing family get-togethers. She captured memorable events in a series of photo journals that will be forever treasured. Judy had the unique ability to make everyone feel special. She leaves a legacy of having made each of us better people, and the world a better place. Her family greatly appreciates the care received from UW Medicine and SCCA. True to Judy's spirit, she would feel blessed to make a difference in others' lives through this memorial fund for breast cancer research.
