Kathy Pettit was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in the spring of 2016. Over the following five and half years of chemotherapy, she inspired her many friends and loved ones with her commitment to fight the disease and to live an active and full life. Her care was guided by Dr. Philip Gold and the dedicated nursing team at Swedish Cancer Institute until her passing on August 19, 2021. She never gave up and focused on staying positive, surrounding herself with family and friends and living every day as if it were a gift we never expected.
Kathy worked in banking early in her career which led to the purchase of a mortgage and escrow company on Bainbridge Island with a close friend. When her first of three sons was born, she gave up her career to devote the next 42 years to her family. She followed her three sons across the US and Canada in their years playing hockey and other sports. She herself was an accomplished athlete, twice named to her high school hall of fame. In her later years, she focused on golf where she won five ladies Club Championships at Seattle Golf Club and the Tumble Creek Club. She played golf up until the week before she passed away. She and her husband Bill were married for 50 years at the time of her death.
Please join us in honoring Kathy’s memory by giving to a memorial fund in her name to aide in the research of pancreatic cancer so that others might live and appreciate that they too can lead an active and full life while battling cancer.
