Good news! This soon-to-be-very busy person (ME!) is taking action to support world-changing research. Now, I need you!
I’ve decided to raise funds for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center — a place where researchers, clinicians, and other experts unite innovative research and compassionate care to prevent and eliminate cancer and infectious disease.
Will you support me with a donation?
I care about this cause because cancer affects too many people... it could be a friend, a family member or YOU! Personally, it has affected me by means of Breast Cancer, our family lost my Great Grandmother, a family friend and currently multiple friends who are affected. Research is how we’ll get there, and you and I can help!
I trust and support Fred Hutch because for nearly 50 years, they’ve been advancing prevention, treatment, care, and cures. Their early discoveries led to bone marrow transplantation — one of the first immunotherapies and a treatment that can cure some cancers. Today, they are unlocking how cancers start and spread, harnessing the immune system to fight disease, improving clinical care, and giving people and their families more time together.
I’m ready for a world where nobody has to fear cancer or infectious diseases — and I know you are, too. Please donate today. Every contribution matters, and your support means so much to me. Thank you!
Did you know?
- In 2022, an estimated 287,850 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 51,400 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
- Cancer begins in the cells which are the basic building blocks that make up tissue. Tissue is found in the breast and other parts of the body. Sometimes, the process of cell growth goes wrong, and new cells form when the body doesn’t need them, and old or damaged cells do not die as they should. When this occurs, a buildup of cells often forms a mass of tissue called a lump, growth, or tumor.
- Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. In 2022, it's estimated that about 30% of newly diagnosed cancers in women will be breast cancers.
- Although breast cancer in men is rare, an estimated 2,470 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 460 will die each year.
- Death rates from breast cancer have been declining since about 1990, in part due to better screening and early detection, increased awareness, and continually improving treatment options.
- Established in 2009 Queens for a Cure has raised over $200,000 for breast cancer research. 100% of proceeds have been donated to different organizations such as the Susan G Komen foundation and the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center. Thank you to all contestants and families who have been a part of Queens for a Cure!
