I was part of the Luke Timmerman team that raised >$1.5M in 2019 for the Fred Hutch! This is an admirable achievement, and has been put to work to support the next generation of oncology innovation coming out of the Fred!
I’ve worked in the cancer field for 10+ years in a variety of settings. Initially as a grad student working on immunotherapies, then in the business setting first as a strategy consultant, then at Compass Therapeutics (NASDAQ; CMPX) a clinical stage biotech company with an immunotherapy pipeline.
I then entered the VC and company creation world, first at Atlas where I was involved in the launch and financing of Quench Bio, Dyne Therapeutics (NASDAQ;DYN), and Korro Bio. I’m currently an Investment Principal at Oxford Sciences Innovation (OSI), an early-stage investment company that raised $800M to date to build companies rooted in Oxford Univerity's science. At OSI, I see numerous innovations in oncology driven by scientific breakthroughs. Conquering a mountain is somewhat synonymous to breakthroughs in cancer – hard work and dedication make the achievements at the bench and bedside that more rewarding.
As a black immigrant woman, I'm a strong advocate for increasing diversity within our industry. It all starts with providing opportunities - at the education, research, network, and industry level.
The Climb to Fight Cancer Fellowship provides financial support for self-identified underrepresented postdoctoral researchers with a goal of ensuring retention and fostering a diverse community of scientists for generations to come.
