Bringing Cancer to the Table: An Event Honoring Tallu Quinn for Glioblastoma Research

After more than two years since Tallu has passed, we are bringing people together to get on the same page about her cancer, glioblastoma. Tallu's diagnosis, treatment, and death shocked all of us, and although there are many times it's been difficult to come to grips with her cancer, I also know that there are too many unanswered questions about a terminal illness that affects so many people's lives daily. We want to honor Tallu's spirit of inquiry and action by centering the work of Dr. Eric Holland, a leader at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle and a world-renowned glioblastoma researcher.

Fred Hutch is a comprehensive cancer center, a designation from the National Cancer Institute that reflects their scientific leadership and the depth and breadth of their research to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

Dr. Holland is particularly excited about two projects, both of which have potential for advancing treatment of glioblastoma. The first is focused on two drugs that attack the cancer in two different, but complementary ways. Each has shown promise in preclinical models, and now Dr. Holland plans to study how to combine them for maximum effect.

The second project will involve applying discoveries he’s made in understanding the progression of meningiomas to better predict — and possibly prevent — meningioma recurrence.

Tallu believed in the power of community-level conversations, and we feel that understanding this cancer and furthering treatment options are ways of pushing things on doggedly.... like she would do. We hope that Dr. Holland's presentations, as well as the ongoing work of his team at Fred Hutch, will help us generate the fierce hope that Tallu always talked about. It has been a long four years for our family, and cancer is and will always be on our radar, because of Tallu as well as the lives and stories of so many others. We can't wait to gather with you, whether near or far from Seattle and Nashville, to understand and support research into glioblastoma.

We welcome anyone to contribute by giving to this memorial fund in Tallu's name.

All the love,

Robbie Quinn and Family
