This is the second year I'm raising money and competing in the Slayride Banked Slalom for the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center in honor of the many Family and Friends who have been effected by Cancer. Last year I was very happy to report that I raised almost $3,000. This year I would like to make that $4,000. Thank you to all who have supported me.
The worst part about Cancer is you never know who, when or how it will effect you. It's never fair or just. This last fall my Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She's one of the most resilient people I know and is taking her treatments like a champ. My thoughts are also with Mark my boss who is battling Brain cancer. With all the scary stuff it's good to remember the lightness amist the darkness. I'm happy to say that my Dad is still in remission after an off and on battle with Throat Cancer since 2011. He makes sure to enjoy his time with his family and working on his projects.
With snowboarding being a big part of my life, any opportunity to give back while doing what I love makes sense. No matter how big or small of a donation everything counts. Lets keep research going to keep our loved ones around.
