The run is scheduled as VIRTUAL for JUNE 28TH!
I plan to walk the 5k in my neighborhood.
Thank you for visiting my page!
This is the SIXTH year we have participated:
2015 -a few months after my diagnosis.
2016 -eight months after my stem cell transplant,
2017 -20 months post transplant, and in my 17th cycle on maintenance meds in a clinical trial.
2018 - my Myeloma numbers began rising and several new next level meds were used. However infections kept complicating things but Kyprolis infusions took the Myeloma back down.
2019 - Maintenance med and monthly IV Immunoglobulin infusions are keeping me fairly stable.
Multiple myeloma is the second most common blood cancer, yet there is poor awareness, relatively little funding, and few truly effective treatments. However, in the past decade, research into multiple myeloma has progressed rapidly. The incredible advancements make us optimistic that a cure is within reach.
Defeat Multiple Myeloma’s mission is to support promising, early-stage, myeloma research aimed at finding a cure. However, we need the help of people like you to make that happen.
Please help us by donating via my fundraising page or to any of my team members' pages.
Thank you.
I am participating in the 2019 Defeat Multiple Myeloma 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk because I want to take action and have an impact in the fight against this cancer. I want to bring new treatments to patients and provide the hope of a cure. Will you help me?
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts; 100% of all funds raised will go directly to advancing multiple myeloma cancer research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center!
What is the Multiple Myeloma?
Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells found in bone marrow. Normal plasma cells help the immune system fight disease, but when plasma cells become cancerous they grow out of control and can produce a tumor called a plasmacytoma. If someone has more than one plasmacytoma, they have multiple myeloma.
Why support this event?
Defeat Multiple Myeloma’s mission is to raise awareness of multiple myeloma while supporting research that seeks to discover new treatments, improve the quality of life for myeloma patients, and ultimately find a cure for this devastating form of cancer.
Funds from the 2019 Defeat Multiple Myeloma event will continue to support immunotherapy research and clinical trials at Fred Hutch which are using CAR-T cells and have shown very promising early results for patients.
