My mother, Kay, passed away from Multiple Myeloma on January 1, 2019, after a 6 year battle. During her time fighting this disease, she was never free from having to undergo chemotherapy. This is the horrible part of this disease--there is no reprieve for the people who suffer from it. There is no cure, it is just a slow, continual battle with horrible drugs to keep it at bay until you succumb. The last time I ran this race, she was still fighting, and last year, after we had lost her, I did not have the energy or heart to run. This year, I am running in her honor, and would ask anyone who can, to give a little for research for a cure. I know this is a hard time financially for everyone, but if you can give, please do. And, if not, please think of me and my family on June 28th when I do run for her.
