I recently accepted the challenge to join a once-in-a-lifetime trip – to hike to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,340 ft), the highest peak in Africa - with Fred Hutch’s Climb to Fight Cancer. Please join me as I raise funds for lifesaving research at Fred Hutch.
My Goal
I am joining a team of 27 biotech leaders on this ambitious climb. The goal of our team is to collectively raise $1.5M+ and each climber is required to raise a minimum of $50,000 (though I plan to raise even more). I have been a passionate fundraiser and researcher in the cancer space throughout my career. In fact, my current company, Normunity, is focused on discovering and developing novel cancer medicines in collaboration with Yale University. Additionally, I worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb for over 25 years with a focus on cancer research and development.
This is a challenging commitment. I am not taking this lightly and neither should you. Raising $50,000 for cancer research isn’t easy. Neither is hiking uphill in the wind to over 19,000 feet. I will work hard to succeed with the climb and ask that you join me with a significant sponsorship.
Why am I Doing This
This trek is personal. Like all of you, I have lost too many people very close to me, including my father-in-law and dear friends including Marla and Bonnie who lost their fight in recent months. My wife was one of the fortunate ones to beat cancer several years ago. CANCER SUCKS AND WE NEED TO BEAT IT!
It’s been extremely humbling to see how powerful cancer research can be – evidenced by Fred Hutch’s contributions including developing bone marrow transplantation as a cure for leukemia, to pioneering powerful therapies that harness the immune system to fight cancer (CAR-T therapies). They literally pioneered therapies that have saved millions of lives. This leading-edge research depends on private contributions that fuel novel studies to make a profound difference.
Please join me and donate today. Any amount you can give makes a difference to people and families facing deadly diseases. Your gift is 100% tax deductible and will fund extraordinary research, lifesaving discoveries, and cures. Thank you for your support!
